The Blue Aegean Aparthotel is a whitewashed apartment complex set in gardens surrounding a pool, 50 metres from the beach, in the resort town of Gouves. The 44 air conditioned apartments, over two floors, are simply decorated with white walls and wood furnishings. All include garden or pool views, separate seating areas, cable television, direct dial phones, hair dryers, safes and sofabeds. Kitchenettes have microwaves, cookware, dishes and refrigerators.
The Blue Aegean Hotel Restaurant offers an � la carte menu with a selection of Greek, English and international dishes, in a relaxed atmosphere with a modern, Greek theme. Guests can relax by the pool and enjoy a beer, a cocktail and an ice cream at the poolside bar. There is also a lounge with television, a quiet reading corner and a card table. Children can be kept amused with their own pool, as well as an organised kids' club. The onsite grocery and laundry facilities provide for all self catering needs, while other practical amenities include a 24 hour front desk, currency exchange, internet access in public areas, and free parking for those arriving by car. The hotel is well placed for exploring the surrounding area; guests can visit the traditional village of Gouves three kilometres away, take a tip to the Minoan Palace of Knossos, 23 kilometres away, and enjoy the Homo Sapiens Museum in Lassithi, 28 kilometres away. The hotel is located 75 kilometres from Heraklion International Airport, a 90 minute drive.

Taxis and buses can be found just outside the airport. Typical taxi fare to hotel will be around 60 EUR. The best way to get around Crete is by rental car or bike, although buses go to most places throughout the island. The Cretan bus company KTEL has stations in all the larger cities and stops all along the routes. Many locations are also accessible by ferry and boat taxi. Taxis in Crete are reasonable but visitors should make sure the driver uses the meter.
